All are welcome to join us as we engage with nature in a myriad of ways. The friendly and welcoming Great Parks program leaders are proud LGBTQIA+ community members who will share the beauty of the outdoors with you. Each month, we’ll venture out to one of our gorgeous Great Parks and explore a different topic. Embrace the beauty of the natural world, meet others with a passion for the outdoors and join a supportive community through exploration. MLK Clean Sweep DayNature Center at the SummitGreat Parks presents an annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Community Clean Up held at Roselawn’s Nature Center at The Summit. Community members break into teams and follow routes to pick up litter, then meet back at the Summit Center afterward for an open-house style programming and light refreshments to celebrate their hard work and the community we serve.

Women in the Outdoors SeriesVariousIn this series, Great Parks aims to guide women ages 16 and up toward cultivating knowledge, discovering new friends, and gaining experience in various outdoor skills. Join our female instructors on the trail, the range, and on water as we build confidence and community together in an inclusive environment. This three-season series kicks off during Women’s History Month and occurs each month through October.

Fishing TournamentsVariousJoin your fellow anglers as you compete in these tests of skill, strategy and patience. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a novice, our tournaments offer a rewarding experience to anglers of all ages. No matter your age or skill level, there is something for everyone from the Bass Series and Rod Busting tournament events to Kids’ Derbies and Mystery Fish Challenges. Tournament events are held at four different parks system-wide giving you a chance for exposure to residents across Hamilton County!

Spark in the DarkMiami Whitewater ForestLet’s light up the lake and illuminate the night! Float on glowing boats as the water glints and gleams, activate all five senses on a family-friendly nighttime hike, and meet some educational animals at this dazzling night party. Tell stories around a campfire, chow down at the snack bar and glow wild at Miami Whitewater Forest. Bike RodeoMiami Whitewater ForestFamilies that join us for the Bike Rodeo get to meet the Great Parks of Hamilton County Rangers and learn about bike safety! This free event at Miami Whitewater Forest Harbor is for kids ages 4-12 and includes fun activities, contests and learning stations.

Hops & Hyzers Disc Golf TournamentWinton Woods & Woodland MoundThis annual disc golf tournament, in partnership with HighGrain Brewing, is open to participants of all ages, especially those within the beginner to intermediate levels of play. Experience Great Parks’ renovated 18-hole course - featuring improved tee boxes, signage and baskets - and enjoy a HighGrain brew with friends and family. Mobile disc baskets and other lawn games are also available to families, children and spectators.

National Night OutWinton Woods HarborGreat Parks is a proud local partner for National Night Out, taking place across the country every August to promote partnerships between the community, local police departments and other emergency agencies. Many first responders will be on site to demonstrate how they protect the community, while also showing off some of the specialized equipment they use. Games, animal encounters and K-9 demos will also be part of this special community event.

Safety TownWinton WoodsChildren ages 4-12 maneuver big wheels and bikes of all sizes on a safety skills driving course featuring obstacles, emergency signals and a pedestrian safety station. Fun activities and education stations await, including an animal encounter from Great Parks. Safety tips are especially important for children who are enjoying the more than 80 miles of trails within Great Parks, either on foot or on wheels.

Trunk or TreatSharon Woods / Sharon CentreThis popular annual event is co-hosted by Great Parks and Sharonville Parks & Rec, welcoming kids of all ages to come and trick or treat through Sharon Woods. As kids make their way through the event, they stop at each decorated 'trunk' and meet members of the Great Parks teams as well as representatives from local businesses.

1800s Harvest JamboreeShawnee LookoutThe 1800s Harvest Jamboree is a historic harvest event that celebrates the fall season, 1800s style - when Ohio pioneers harvested crops and then feasted each year. Guests enjoy live entertainment and programming and pioneer games, as well as traditional foods, and the creation of crafts and toys.
