Why support Great Parks?

  • Great Parks has Big Lands: Great Parks is Hamilton County’s largest landowner at over 18,000 acres, accounting for one-third of the county’s open space.
  • The Community Loves Us! If you were to rank our 6.8 million visits each year among national parks, we would be the second most visited behind Great Smoky Mountains. Great Parks is also one of our most popular local destinations, outpacing Cincinnati Parks, Kings Island, BLINK, the Cincinnati Reds, the Cincinnati Zoo and more!
  • Take a Hike with Us: Great Parks has 84 miles of trails and counting.
  • Education is at Our Core: Each year, over 80 free- and reduced-cost lunch program schools participate in our on-site and off-site education programs. We also offer over 1,800 educational programs to the public each year.
  • Our Big Lands Have a Bigger Community Impact: A 2020 study found that Great Parks has a $107 million economic impact on Greater Cincinnati.
  • Great Parks’ Vision for the Future: In order to maintain our role as the conservation leader in the region, we gathered community feedback to drive future park plans. The result of that community input was the Great Parks of Hamilton County masterplan, including the goals to build more trails, add programming and events for diverse audiences and build ecological resiliency and sustainability.

Community Impact

Spending more time outdoors is directly connected to the wellness of our region’s children and families. Being outside in green spaces supports an active and healthy lifestyle, which has been shown to increase life expectancy, improve sleep quality and reduce cancer risk.

Along with supporting physical wellness, spending time in nature also bolsters mental well-being, including lowering the risk of depression, restoring and strengthening our mental capacity and increasing focus and attention. Great Parks’ big lands offer these benefits to everyone in our region every day.

And our supporters help make this possible!
