Wildflowers

The Hamilton County Park District is home to hundreds of species of wildflowers. On the following pages you will find information to help you get to know our native wildflowers better. Check back often as more species will be added to the collection.

The common and scientific name as well as the common family name of each flower is given along with some general information about each species.

Habitat: Here you will find information on where a particular species can be found. Woodland Prairie ect.

Size: Here you will find information on the size of the flower as well as the overall size of the plant

Notes: Here you will find information on when the flower can be found in bloom. Bloom dates can vary by as much as two weeks so the date ranges can be broad.

• Early: represents the first two weeks of a month
• Mid: represents the middle two weeks of a month
• Late: represents the last two weeks of a month

When two species are similar this section will provide a brief description to help distinguish the two.

Folklore and Facts: Here you will find interesting information about plant uses lore and history.
