Where are the administrative offices of the Park District?
The administrative offices of the Park District are in Winton Woods at 10245 Winton Road (45231). You can also reach them by calling (513) 521-PARK (7275).
When are the parks open?
The parks are open 365 days a year, from dawn to dusk, except for special occasions. Occasionally, Naturalists will schedule night hikes, campfires and stargazing opportunities. Please check our calendar for details. Boathouses, golf courses visitor center and gift shop hours vary by season.
How do I Volunteer with the Park District?
Are pets allowed in the parks and campgrounds?
Pets are allowed in the parks and campgrounds; however, they must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet in length. They must be kept under physical control and not be a nuisance to other park visitors. Pet owners are required to remove their pet's fecal deposits from the park grounds. Mutt Mitt dispensers are located at each trailhead and are available from the Rangers.
Pets are not permitted in the Highfield Discovery Garden nor the Sharon Woods Harbor playground. Pets are not permitted in the wet playgrounds.
Is there a fee to use the horse trail?
All vehicles entering Park District parks must have a valid Motor Vehicle Permit ($10 annual; $3 daily). There is no additional fee to use the horse trails. Horse trails are available at Miami Whitewater Forest and Winton Woods.
What is your alcohol policy?
The alcohol policy as stated in Section 91.06 of our bylaws states "No person shall possess an open container of beer or intoxicating liquor, within the park, except within the confines and privacy afforded in a cabin, tent, camping vehicle, permit premises, or other non-public areas reserved or leased from the Board." If you have reserved an area in the park such as a banquet center, campsite or picnic area, you may consume alcohol in that area only.
Can I park on the grass?
The Park District does not allow any vehicle to be pulled onto the grass areas of our parks except during special events as designated by the Rangers. Our Landscape and Operations personnel work very hard to keep the gardens and grass areas in the best condition possible to project a pleasant appearance to park visitors. All vehicles are required to remain on the pavement.

There is an injured/abandoned animal in my yard. Who should I call?
First, be sure the animal is injured or abandoned. Some species of animals only tend to their young incrementally during the day and depend on the camouflage of the nest to protect them. Contact a private animal control company or for deer, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife, 513-385-7396. For a list of licensed wildlife rehabbers, please call the Hamilton County Park District, 513-521-7275, ext. 240. To report poaching issues, call the ODNR's Xenia office, 937-372-9261. Can I have my wedding at the Park District?
You may be married in a general park area with the permission of the Ranger Department. You may also reserve a variety of areas including picnic areas, lodges, banquet centers and an outdoor ceremony location at Withrow Nature Preserve.
How far in advance can I reserve a shelter or lodge?
Picnic shelters and lodges reservable one year out from the current date. Reservable areas and facilities may be very popular and a lottery system is utilized to be fair to all park visitors. Call 521-PARK to find out details about the lottery procedure.
How do I reserve a Banquet Center?
To reserve a Banquet Center, please call (513) 521-PARK (7275) Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and speak to a Guest Service Representative.
