In August 2021, Great Parks acquired the Werk Road Property as a protected greenspace through the Clean Ohio Conservation Program.
Through 2022 and 2023, Great Parks included park neighbors, the Westwood community and Hamilton County residents and stakeholders in the planning process through surveys, interviews, in-person events and interactive workshops. An Advisory Group made up of leaders and representatives from local community organizations, such as WestCURC, Westwood Works and the Westwood Historical Society, also provided guidance during the process.
In October 2023, Great Parks approved a conceptual master plan based on ideas presented by the community. This plan established a long-range vision for the park.
The first phase of improvements is underway to highlight and restore the natural ecology at the Werk Road Property and to make this open space accessible and usable by the public with minimal impact on conservation.
