Rangers
Mission Statement

The Rangers patrol by cruiser, foot, all-terrain vehicle and bike, making them available to visitors in all areas of the parks.

The Rangers are state certified peace officers, trained for emergency response, investigation and reporting. They enforce federal and state laws as well as Park District bylaws and regulations.

All emergencies should be reported immediately by calling 911. If you are in need of other assistance, contact the Rangers through Ranger Dispatch 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Tuesday and 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday at (513) 521-3980; after hours contact the Hamilton County Communication Center at (513) 825-2280.

Everything in the parks is protected; collection of wildlife and plants is not allowed. The posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour is strictly enforced, and alcohol is not permitted in the parks except in reserved areas.

Rangers - Employment Opportunities

Part-Time Qualifications:
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills and abilities. Demonstrable ability to meet or exceed fitness standards, pass psychological and polygraph examinations and a criminal background check.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Basic Peace Officer Certification from Ohio or currently enrolled in an Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Academy
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License that meets HCPD current carrier guidelines
  • No felony or domestic violence convictions

Preferred qualifications include any formal or informal education or experience in Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation or related field.

And successfully complete the following if accepted for consideration:

  • Oral interview.
  • Medical examination (at applicant’s expense).
  • Voice stress analysis.

Full-Time Qualifications:
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is: Preferred: An associates degree and possession of Ohio Peace Officer certification, or three years law enforcement patrol experience that evidences a broad knowledge of law enforcement. Demonstrable ability to meet or exceed fitness standards, pass psychological and poylgraph examinations and a criminal background check.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Basic Peace Officer Certification from Ohio or currently enrolled in an Ohio Basic Peace Officer Training Academy

Privacy Policy Hamilton County Park District 
         
A valid Hamilton County Park District Motor Vehicle Permit ($10.00 annual; $3.00 daily) is required to enter the parks.
