Making the Connection: Armleder Park to Lunken Field 
The Hamilton County Park District, through continued collaboration with the City of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Park Board and the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, is pleased to announce the final phase completion of the Otto Armleder Memorial Park Development, a one-mile paved connector trail to Lunken Field.
The trail consists of a 150-foot long steel truss bridge, 300 linear feet of stream bank restoration along Duck Creek and an 8,000 square foot earth retaining wall established with native vegetation. The paved trail will connect the two parks, expanding the combined trail system to over eight total miles! This connection will also join Armleder Park with what will ultimately become the convergence of two regional trail systems, the Ohio River Trail and the Little Miami Scenic Trail.
Mitchell Memorial Trail Extension
In 2008, the Hamilton County Park District opened the first mountain bike trail (Trail A) in Hamilton County. Since that time, the trail has been used over 7,500 times by mountain bikers, hikers and trail runners. The mountain bike trail was made possible through a partnership with the Cincinnati Off Road Alliance (CORA), a local mountain biking organization committed to building and maintaining trails in the Cincinnati area. It was built by volunteers who donated over 1,100 hours including two Eagle Scout projects and funding from the Duke Energy Foundation.
As a result of the ongoing support from CORA and hardworking, dedicated volunteers, the Park District is excited to announce that the mountain bike trail is being expanded in 2012! Trail B will officially be opened on June 1, increasing the total length of trail to approximately 8 miles. This newest section of trail was made possible by grant funding from the Recreational Trails Program administered through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources as well as an additional 1,600 hours donated by volunteers.
Trail A is an intermediate trail approximately 3.9 miles in length with moderate to steep terrain and some technical features. Trail B is an advanced trail approximately 4.1 miles in length with moderate to steep terrain, several technical features and some sections of more difficult trail. Both trails have been designed per International Mountain Biking Association standards specifically for mountain biking.
Harper Meadows Playground Rebuild at Winton Woods
On May 8, 2012, over 70 dedicated US Bank volunteers built, not one, but two universally accessible playgrounds at the Harper Meadows reservable picnic areas in Winton Woods.
The project was made a reality as part of the Hamilton County Parks Foundation Corporate Volunteering Program. The program allows organizations to take part in Park District projects that strengthen team building and our community. Over 60 US Bank volunteers worked hard with Park District staff, GameTime and David Williams & Associates staff to install the playground equipment, plant trees and mulch areas. Penn Station East Coast Subs was a corporate sponsor by providing lunch during the project.
Miami Whitewater Forest Campground Improvements
Two major improvements at Miami Whitewater Forest Campground include a new shower and restroom building, featuring private shower rooms, a family restroom and shower, and sustainable building materials. A new playground has also been constructed for exclusive use by campground guests.
Parky's Farm Animal Pen Upgrades
An underutilized barn at Parky's Farm is now the new home for some of your favorite farm animals. Six new indoor animal stalls in the barn provide more protection during our hot summers and cold winters. The barn also houses a new education space featuring live animal programs. Farm yard improvements include redesigned outdoor runs as well as drainage and utility improvements.
