 The Hamilton County Park District maintains an accessibility policy that provides the opportunity for visitors of various abilities to enjoy our parks, facilities and programs.
Accessible Trails
The Park District provides the opportunity for individuals with mobility disabilities to use their power-driven mobility devices on select trails. For a list of these trails,view the Trail Chart.
Accessible Sites and Facilities
Through concentrated efforts to upgrade existing sites and develop new areas, the Park District’s goal is to have the majority of facilities within each park be considered Level 1 or 2.
The Park District has a four level classification system for its developed sites and facilities. Look for these icons at developed facilities:
Level 1: Considered fully accessible and meets architectural standards for handicap accessibility. Level 1 sites include Visitor Centers, Ranger stations, snack bars, restrooms, numerous picnic areas and paved trails. There is at least one Level 1 facility at each developed park.
Level 2: Usable to disabled persons, but may include inconveniences.
Level 3: Difficult to use by disabled persons; assistance may be required. These sites include facilities which are located in difficult terrain.
Level 4: Undeveloped section of the park; inaccessible to most disabled persons.
Accessibility at Programs and Events
The Park District will make every effort, with two weeks advance notice, to provide reasonable accommodations so that people with disabilities may participate in special events and educational programs.

Universal Zero G-Chair Swing Seat
Children of all abilities can play and have fun!. The Zero-G Chair is the first accessible swing of its kind to be ergonomically designed for both 2-5 and 5-12 age groups. It's sturdy, oversized locking mechanism makes securing a child safe and easy.
Visitors can now use a Zero G-Chair Swing at:
- Winton Woods
- Sharon Woods
- Lake Isabella
- Woodland Mound
- Miami Whitewater Forest
- Shawnee Lookout
- Embshoff Woods Nature Preserve
Solo Rider Golf Carts
The Solo Rider golf carts are single passenger carts that allow the player to play from tee to green without ever leaving the cart. The Park District has eight Solo Rider golf carts available for use at the following golf courses:
- Meadow Links & Golf Academy
- The Mill Course
- Little Miami Golf Center
- Miami Whitewater Forest
- The Vineyard
A Solo Rider cart can be reserved by calling the individual course. Players may also schedule a time for a demonstration of the cart to see if it will benefit and enable them to play and practice the game of golf. Visit our golf page for more information.
Frances RecreAcres Playground
Thanks to the hard work of Target volunteers and Park District staff in October 2011, a new playground was installed at Francis RecreAcres in Sharonville. The play area is currently the Hamilton County Park District’s most universally accessible playground! The new play structure features a variety of elements, including:
- A rubber safety surface that allows access to all areas of the playground for users of all abilities.
- Multiple wide ramps for access with mobility devices.
- A “Power Scape” area of play that encourages physical fitness and coordination.
- An array of bright colors to increase visual stimulation and playable musical instruments to increase auditory function.
- Shade structures for a more enjoyable play experience.
- An increase in accessible play area and play features.
